truthful book reviews for parents

I write book blogs for parents who care for their childrens safety.

A truly amazing (plus amazing cover) second book in the shatter me trilogy: unravel me.

Unravel Me - Tahereh Mafi

wow this was beyond what i thought it would be. usually I expect a second and/or third book in a series to be kind of lack the amazingness of the first book but this one didn't it got even better. as for the violence there really was non they are mainly kind of on a road trip kind of thing which i just love! and mt kids are loving it im glad i have found a book series that i feel safe my kids reading thank god for tahera mafi love her!

a great debut novel: SHATTER ME.

Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi

this was a good book the reason i give it 4 star out of 5 is because i think we could all agree there could have been a little more world building. and this (excuse my language) jackass warner. he is just such a little f---. but i do like how Tahera Mafi makes you want to just punch him in the throat. but the over all story was just great. i was coming into this with the idea that there would be a lot of violence you know cause she has a lethal touch and juliet could kill anyone she wants to at any moment but she doesn't she is actually a really nice girl and she gets sarcastic with warner and its really funny. so for the violence there is a small fist fight between warner and another guy but its not graphic actually warner just punches the guy and thats it and its not graphic or anything. sex non because its really just warner and juliet and they can't really stand each other so no love there. and language well there is non. i highly recommend this book to everyone.

Great second book: CATCHING FIRE

Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins

Okay I'm just going to make this a short and sweet review. This was a great second installment for the hunger games trilogy. i really enjoyed it. As for violence is was about the same most of the time katniss, peeta, finnick, and maggs are just look for water. But if corse there is violence I mean

(show spoiler)

their back in the hunger games.

Again an I wouldn't let my 12 year old read this.

And as for sex non. profanity non.

A funny coming of age novel: NOGGIN.

Noggin - John Corey Whaley

This book was so funny. And I just absolutely adore the cover. I found johns writing style very different in a good way. I wouldn't recommend this for 12-13 year old towards the ends there is a lot I mean I lot if cussing it starts around page 200 or so unless you want to tear the next 200 pages out. But the plot if this story really intrigued me. I mean it's a kid getting his head cut of and then 5 years later he is put in to a brand new body one not his. And all his friends are out of high school now and his girl friend is like 21 or 22 and he's still 16. I thought this was such a great book again a lot of cussing towards page 200 and    On word. As for violence there is a fist fight at the end and he describes blood coming out of his nose but it's not to graphic. And sex just very passionate kissing.

The very popular book:the hunger games

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

I really enjoyed this book. I thought there was great writing, great character development, and good plot. But this is not something I would let my 12 year old read. I mean it's teenagers fighting to the death. I mean they don't glorify it but the over all premise is very violent. i get that Suzanne Collins wants to show you what is happening today like there are men and women going to war... But for what really. So for violence 3 and a half stars. Sex none just some passionate kissing. Language "damn" is used once. But I really did like this book but there was some violence not really a book for A 12 year old to read.

A very surprising fourth book: origin

Origin - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Wow okay so I'll just get right to it when I read the plot line for this book I was prepared for a ton of violence because it says that he's willing to burn the whole world down to save Katy and I was all like "oh great Jennifer has finally put tons and tons of violence in this one" and to my surprise the most violent this amazing book got was a fist fight (that was not graphic at all) and death threat but that was it. and again no sex just kissing. And "hell" is used once so yeah you should really pick up this series.

The great 3rd book: OPAL

Opal - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Oh my god wow okay so this was so amazing. And this time I expected this to kind of just go down hill a little but no not at all. And the love is just so amazing. And oh Damean is just so awesome and he really cares for her. And he will do anything for her. And there on the run and everything and for them to be on the run there isn't really any violence there is a car crash but that's it and again no blood except for a Small cut that Katy gets. and no sex just kissing. And bad language well there is non so yeah. jennifer L is such an amazing author I love her writing. And my daughter is enjoying this series so Much too. Great series So far can't wait to get my hands on origin. Yay.

the great second book in the lux series: ONYX

Onyx - Jennifer L. Armentrout

oh this was better than the first one in my opinion. the violence was still really low to my surprise. usually you find that as a series goes along it gets more violent or more profanity but not in this case natta. Again the love interest was so well written, And,and i love that this relationship isn't all about sex. it's about caring for one another no matter what. so for the violence that there was it was a very mild fist fight i (if you can call it that). but here again wasn't any vivid graphic info on the so-called fight. and no sex just some kissing. and language again hell was used once in this one as well. loved this book great adventure. and amazing love interest. age for me is 12-what-ever-age. no one can go wrong with this book. and my 12 year old daughter is loving this book. and these cover are just gorgeous.

a surprisingly non violent book called OBSIDIAN.

Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

so this book was very well written. it wasn't my favorite book of all time but it was good. parents need to know that this book is like twilight but in all the best ways. and without the tacky vampires. and as many of you may know i love me some alien. the chemistry between the main character and the alien boy was just so well plotted. and i love that there wasn't some stupid love triangle. and there wasn't really very much violence and the violence that was there was never gruesome. and the sex natta. just one kiss but it really was just a peck. and language also a natta, i think hell is used once in this book but that is all. so for all the parents that have read this i highly recommend this for your child  the only reason i have the age from 13-what-ever-age is because some of the words are long and a 11 or 12 year old may not be able to say the long word but that is it. i can't wait to read the next four.
